The app will stop recording your location for the rest of the day. You'll receive a notification letting you know tracking has paused. All other app features — map, trip history, places — remain fully usable. Tracking resets at midnight UTC. Upgrade to Residential or Commercial for unlimited hours.
You pay the base monthly fee for the organisation owner, and an additional fee for each registered device. You can add or remove devices at any time and billing adjusts accordingly.
Yes. In-app purchase via Apple Pay is available inside the DriveTrace iOS app. You can also subscribe on this website using a credit/debit card (Stripe) or PayPal.
The Free plan is effectively a forever trial with limited usage. There is no time-limited trial for Residential or Commercial, but you can cancel at any time and you'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
Commercial plan tenants get: fleet-wide mileage and driving-hours reports, vehicle maintenance tracking and alerts, geofence zone entry/exit notifications, driver dispatch and job assignment, custom RBAC roles, bulk user/device import, and REST API access for third-party integrations.
You can upgrade at any time. Downgrades are also allowed, but only after your account is within the lower plan's limits. The app will tell you exactly what to remove before the downgrade can proceed.
When you downgrade, data older than the new plan's retention window is removed during the next nightly maintenance cycle, so make sure to export anything you want to keep first.
Yes. Commercial plan subscribers can extend their data retention beyond 12 months or request a full data export at any time. Extended retention is available at custom pricing — contact us to discuss your needs.
Every trip is scored from 0–100 based on driving events like hard braking, speeding, and harsh acceleration. Scores translate into points: trip score minus a configurable baseline equals the points earned (or lost) for that trip. Points accumulate in a ledger with a vesting period (weekly or monthly), after which they can be redeemed for rewards configured by the tenant owner. Badges are awarded automatically for milestones, and a leaderboard ranks drivers by cumulative score.
DriveTrace uses multiple layers of security. All traffic is encrypted with TLS 1.2+. Authentication supports passkey-first login plus TOTP authenticator, SMS, and email as MFA options. At the database level, Row Level Security (RLS) enforces complete tenant isolation — your data is cryptographically separated from other tenants at every query. The database has no public internet exposure and is accessible only from the application server on a private network.
Every tenant gets a full web portal at drivetrace.app/app where owners and admins can manage members and roles, view and control devices, configure places and geofences, set up scoring weights and reward programs, manage subscriptions, enforce MFA policies, and review security sessions — all without contacting support.
DriveTrace supports regional deployments on Google Cloud. By default, data is stored in the United States. Commercial plan subscribers can request data residency in specific regions (e.g. EU, Asia-Pacific) to meet compliance, data sovereignty, or latency requirements.
